Our dumb media

I work with a pretty politically conscious guy and we pow-wow at least once a day and discuss the latest developments in the never ending dra-mah of the democratic primary race. It's a given that Clinton just can't win this contest mathematically, but since we're going through the motions anyway, we were both chatting today about how we were looking forward to watching (presumably the last) candidate debate between Obama and Clinton. You would think given the monumental challenges facing our country and the massive amount of clean-up the next occupant of the White House will have to do, the questions might have centered around, say, the war in Iraq, our rapidly collapsing economy, relations with China, the environment, food riots around the world, etc, etc.

When I tuned in, all I heard were questions about flag-pins, bitterness, who knew whom in the Weathermen Underground and preachers.

If it weren't so preposterous, I'd think I were living in bizarre-o land.
