#2

I've been watching the new HBO series John Adams, which concludes tonight. Yes, I'm a greedy thief that refuses to pay for HBO the old fashioned way. Who's going to stop me?

Initial thoughts:

1. The intro music and credits sequence are simply wonderful.

2. Tom Hanks, as an executive producer, exceeds his already amazing accomplishments as an actor.

3. John Adams, as portrayed by Paul Giamatti, seems the result of when you cross an 18th Century founding father with equal parts Rodney Dangerfield and Homer Simpson.

4. I've realized that, as portrayed in this mini-series, at least, Thomas Jefferson is really hot. And yes, I know there's not a therapist alive that can adequately deal with that revelation.

5. My knowledge of pre-revolutionary America is spotty at best. We really did skim right past most of this in my history classes in favor of more time playing the Oregon Trail game. Without a trip to Colonial Williamsburg as a kid, I'd be sunk.

6. That simmering, smoldering Thomas Jefferson was 33 when he wrote the Declaration of Independence. That just makes me want to hang myself.

7. David Morse looks so much like George Washington they should put him on the quarter and see if anyone notices.

8. After watching scenes of our nation's founders grappling with when to break with Great Britain and how to form an independent country, one simply cannot watch scenes of current candidates queried on why they aren't wearing enough patriotic flair without wanting to swallow a gallon of drain-o.

9. Everyone involved will get Emmy's for this.

Check out the trailer for the series. For anyone that has HBO but hasn't been keeping up, do yourself a favor and try to catch the repeats. For anyone else that would like to see this, drop me a note. I'll know what to do.

Hey Katz:

What is the secret? By the way, I found a website called: freedocumentaries . . which offers, FREE documentaries. The selection is not great, and the streaming tends to get hung up in parts, but still worth the FREE price.
